Welcome to QCWA Darling Downs
“Celebrating Diversity, Resilience and Respect “
“Where regional, rural and urban meet and where diversity
allows for growth, the home of QCWA – Darling Downs.”
Darling
Downs Division encompasses the area east to the Lockyer Valley, north to Crows
Nest, west to Oakey and south to Pittsworth. There are 10 branches in the
Division. Beauaraba (Pittsworth), Crows Nest, Goombungee, Highfields,
Kingsthorpe, Middle Ridge, Oakey, Toowoomba, Toowoomba Business City Women and
Upper Locker/Withcott.
The
Darling Downs Division has a rich heritage of over 75 years, while the Branches
range from 3 years to 96 years of community service and involvement. We have
members of all ages, young mums, working women, retirees and each Branch is
unique, diverse in activities and achievements.
The
QCWA Darling Downs Centre at 263 Margaret Street Toowoomba houses the Division
office and a well-equipped hall – The Orana Room- which is well utilised by the
community and our Branches. Many events are held in the Hall, including
Handcraft Schools, craft afternoons for our young associate members and the
youth of the community, Country Kitchens workshops, meetings, seminars,
birthday celebrations and fundraising events.
