Ready, set, bake
In 1959, the first State Cookery Contest was held as a way of raising money towards the construction of the proposed State Offices and Club which came to be known as Ruth Fairfax House.
Queensland Country Life were the only sponsor, offering £300. From these modest beginnings, the State Cookery Contest continues.
Entries are initially judged at Branch level, then Divisional, with finalists from approximately 16 classes delivering their cakes, slices, biscuits, jams and chutneys to the State Conference for final judging.
